Anju Bobby George is a long jumper who represented India on the international level. Anju gained prominence by taking home the bronze medal in the long jump at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris. George won the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2004 thanks to her bronze-winning performance at the 2003 World Athletics Championship in Paris. By winning the gold at the junior Asian Championship in 1996, Anju had already demonstrated a great deal of promise before taking home the bronze at the Paris meeting. Although she began with the heptathlon, she later started to focus on her jump events and went on to win a medal in the long jump at the junior Asian championship.

Additionally, she was the Asian Games gold medalist in Busan. Following her success at the World Athletic Meet, Anju was given the prestigious Arjuna Award for eminent athletes by the Indian government in 2003. The first time Anju displayed her talent was at the national school games, where she finished third in the 4×100-meter relay and the 100-meter hurdles. Later, in college, she went on to win the Calicut University Championship. But Anju’s marriage to her sportsman husband, Bobby George, marked the real turning point in her life.
Anju Bobby George was born on April 19th, 1977, in the Cheeranchira Kochuparambil family in Changanasseri, Kerala to parents K.T. Markos and Gracy. The school which Anju attended was St. Ann’s High School and CKM Koruthode School. She graduated from Vimala College. Ever since she first appeared on the Indian athletic scene, Anju has consistently performed. The pinnacle of her career was her bronze-winning performance at the World Athletics Championship in Paris in 2003.
