Jazmin Benitez also known by her ring name Mercedes Martinez is an American pro wrestler who is currently signed with the AEW. She was born in Waterbury, USA on November 17, 1980. She is a highly skilled and accomplished professional wrestler known for her impressive in-ring abilities and extensive experience in the wrestling industry.
Unlike many other wrestlers, Martinez didn’t start off her career at a very young age. Allegedly Mercedes started getting involved in pro wrestling after she sustained an injury while playing basketball in college. Martinez allegedly was an exceptional basketball player in college and later started wrestling due to her love for contact sports. Martinez started training for wrestling under Jason Knight in October, 200o and soon defeated a male wrestler in her first ever wrestling match on November 12, 2000. She would later start getting traction and exposure after working under a promoter named Sheldon Goldberg. Goldberg would then go on to form a women’s division around Martinez along with Sumie Sakai under the promotion of New England Championship Wrestling.
In late 2005, Mercedes would go on to wrestle in the inaugural event of a new exclusive women wrestling promotion named Shimmer Women Athletes. Martinez would later go on to wrestle Sara Del Rey within a 20-minute time limit. Mercedez would continue to wrestle for numerous independent promotions throughout 2006. Mercedes later entered WWE’s Mae Young Classic tournament on July 13, 2017, and defeat numerous wrestlers till Semifinals where she was defeated by Shayna Baszler. Martinez later made an appearance on October 26, 2017, during an episode of NXT, where she participated in a battle royal that was won by Nikki Cross.
Martinez made an AEW appearance on August 31, 2019, during an All Out event. And later made an appearance in the second Casino Battle Royale as the Joker but unfortunately, she was eliminated by Britt Baker. She once again made her return on November 5 at AEW Dark where she teamed up with Big Swole in a losing effort against Allie Sadie Gibbs.
Mercedes Martinez is a really popular and outspoken women pro wrestler who has been in the industry for quite a long time. She has also made her presence known throughout the wrestling industry by appearing and working for various different promotions including big-time competitors like WWE and AEW. So naturally many of her fans wonder whether she is currently married or whether she is in a relationship or not. She is currently single but she has revealed that she used to be married and even had a boy in 2009.
