All indications lead to Colt Cabana returning to AEW on a permanent basis, but not on Saturdays. Cabana was reportedly backstage for Wednesday’s “Dynamite” program, according to reports on Thursday. Now, PWInsider Elite is saying that he will not only be working Wednesdays but also as a coach and producer. Part of this is nothing new since Cabana stated in May that he was under contract with AEW as both a producer and a performer.

This, however, raises issues about Cabana’s ring career. He last wrestled for Ring of Honor in April, when he was defeated by Samoa Joe in a bout for the ROH World Television Championship. Cabana competed for the ROH World Championship last November, one month after “Brawl Out,” and ultimately lost to Chris Jericho on “Dynamite.” ROH’s weekly programming, on the other hand, is now being taped alongside “AEW Collision,” CM Punk’s current TV home.

Moving Cabana to Wednesdays solely suggests that AEW wants to keep Punk and The Elite apart. After all, it was previously claimed that members of The Elite thought Punk requested Cabana’s removal from AEW.

The Elite, in any event, has yet to appear on “Collision.” Backstage at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Kenny Omega and Punk were kept apart. Cabana is currently only available on Wednesdays.
