Charlotte Flair has returned and she ain't waiting for anybody in the line, as she is here to take her throne back.
On Friday’s “WWE SmackDown,” general manager Adam Pearce awarded “The Empress of Tomorrow” with a brand new WWE Women’s Championship belt, which will replace the “Raw” Women’s Championship she won from Bianca Belair at Night of Champions.
Unfortunately for Asuka, the reports were correct. Before Pearce could even put the belt around Asuka’s waist, she was approached by a returning Charlotte Flair, who informed Pearce that she had no intention of waiting in line for a title opportunity and instead challenged Asuka to a championship bout, which Asuka quickly accepted. Flair’s return to WWE programming follows a two-month absence; she was last seen losing the “SmackDown” Women’s Championship to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39.

Asuka’s acceptance of Flair’s challenge might set up the fourth broadcast title singles bout between the two women, with Flair presently leading 2-1 (there have been 11 overall singles matches between them, with Flair winning six and Asuka winning five). It also puts Pearce in a predicament, considering he had promised Belair a rematch for the title earlier in the program. While Pearce hinted in a backstage segment that Asuka vs. Charlotte may happen on the June 30 “SmackDown,” the night before Money in the Bank, it’s also plausible that WWE is planning a triple threat including Belair.
