SummerSlam, the grandest celebration of WWE’s summer, culminated in an electrifying display of talent and prowess. The spectacle unfolded at Ford Field, the home of the Detroit Lions, where eight exhilarating matches took center stage on Saturday. The long-anticipated highlight of the night was the epic “Tribal Combat” encounter between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso, vying not only for the prestigious Undisputed WWE Universal Championship but also for the coveted title of the Tribal Chief within The Bloodline.

SummerSlam 2023 was a night of high-stakes competition, with three other titles up for grabs alongside the main event. Surprising the fans, one title changed hands in an unexpected twist. Additionally, the longstanding feud between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar reached its climax, leaving the audience in awe with an unforeseen conclusion.

Let’s delve into the results and top highlights from the exhilarating SummerSlam 2023:

Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso

The atmosphere inside the ring was charged with intensity right from the moment Reigns and Uso stepped in. The match was a rollercoaster of excitement, with no shortage of thrilling moments. Kendo sticks and steel chairs were widely used as weapons, adding to the electrifying action. Both stars showcased their signature finishing moves multiple times, and the crowd witnessed incredible resilience as each competitor managed to kick out of the other’s devastating moves.

Just as Uso was on the verge of pinning Reigns for the victory, an unexpected twist unfolded. A masked man emerged from the shadows, pulling Uso away from his pinning attempt, and it turned out to be none other than his twin, Jimmy Uso, making a surprising appearance.

In a dramatic turn of events, Jimmy Uso unleashed a powerful superkick on Jey Uso before making his exit from the ring. Seizing the opportunity, Reigns took charge and executed a spectacular spear through the table, securing the pinfall and reaffirming his position as the reigning champion and Tribal Chief.

Asuka (c) vs. Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair

Three top WWE female stars battled it out, but the match fell slightly short of expectations due to a few misses. Nonetheless, it concluded with an exciting finish. Although the match lacked consistent flow, each star had their shining moments with signature moves. A scary moment occurred when Belair seemed to suffer a knee injury, briefly taking her out of the match, making it essentially a one-on-one title fight between Asuka and Flair.

However, Belair made a comeback, landing a 450 on Flair but couldn’t secure the pinfall. Flair came close to winning with a figure eight on Belair, but Asuka intervened with her blue spit. In the end, Belair secured a rollup to win back the title with a pinfall.

Iyo Sky wins Money in the Bank

Bayley said a title was on the way for Iyo Sky, and with an injured Belair, Damage CTRL came out and Sky used the briefcase to hit Belair. She cashed in her contract, landed her over-the-moonsault, and got the pin to win her first WWE Women’s Championship. One year ago, Damage CTRL emerged onto the scene, and one year later, they are now on top of the WWE women’s division.

Seth Rollins (c) vs. Finn Bálor

Continuing their outstanding rivalry, Rollins and Bálor delivered yet another incredible match. The bout featured several callbacks to their encounter seven years ago, with Bálor using the same move Rollins used to cause Bálor to relinquish his title in that memorable match.

Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler

Witnessing an MMA rules match in a WWE ring might seem unusual, but given each star’s MMA background, it made perfect sense. The match began smoothly, featuring an impressive flying knee from Rousey. However, the referee called for trainers to attend to Baszler, prompting Rousey’s frustration, but Baszler managed to recover.

Both stars exchanged submission moves in a fierce battle to secure a tap-out victory. In the end, Baszler emerged triumphant as she forced Rousey to pass out via submission, earning a hard-fought win over her former friend.

Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes

This match carried a main event aura, even surpassing their previous encounters. The intensity was evident from the outset, with Rhodes taking the initiative even before the bell rang. Lesnar showcased his power, while Rhodes countered with his signature moves.

In a stunning turn of events, Rhodes executed three consecutive Cross Rhodes on Lesnar, securing a decisive victory, marking his second win against “The Beast Incarnate.” The surprise came after the match as Lesnar showed an unexpected sign of respect, shaking Rhodes’ hand, hugging him, and raising his arm as the victor, delighting every WWE fan.
