On this week’s edition of WWE Raw, Cody Rhodes faced off against Paul Heyman, the Wise Man of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, in preparation for their championship fight. This marked the official start of the buildup to the Wrestlemania 39 main event.
Sami Zayn is determined to unseat Roman Reigns as the undisputed champion at the Elimination Chamber PLE later this month in front of his home crowd in Montreal, according to Cody Rhodes, who entered the ring to make the announcement.
Cody Rhodes then reminded him of his family’s financial collapse in 2000, to which Paul Heyman interrupted. To prevent having his automobile impounded, Dusty Rhodes, the boy’s father, was appearing in auto advertisements. For Dusty to have a paid position in ECW, Heyman was the one to contact.
Heyman became emotional but then changed the subject by saying that Cody Rhodes is the focus of the situation rather than him or Dusty. To defeat Roman Reigns, the greatest champion of all time, at Wrestlemania 39 is no simple assignment, though.

Paul also brought up the fact that Dusty never coached his son, Cody Rhodes, in contrast to how he prepared Roman for the NXT championship. Then, Heyman launched a personal attack at the latter, claiming that Dusty had told her the following: “You, Cody, were his favorite son. But Roman Reigns was the son he always wanted.”
Cody Rhodes concluded the discussion by claiming that Heyman had just made the situation personal and that Roman would pay the price for it at WrestleMania 39 when he personally stripped the belt from him.
The American Nightmare made his comeback to WWE ring action last month at the Royal Rumble 2023 premium live event after an almost eight-month absence. He won the Men’s Rumble match, securing his chance to defend his championship at the Show of Shows in April.

He continued by saying that it wouldn’t surprise him if Rhea Ripley also defeated Charlotte Flair. “Without a doubt, I think those matches are going to be really, really good. You know, Cody Rhodes. I’m expecting him to win this thing. I think it’s his time and Rhea Ripley, I wouldn’t doubt if she won it, too. She’s been up and coming. She’s been pretty strong lately. So, you never know,” said Angle.
