On Friday’s episode of “WWE SmackDown,” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a startling challenge that may result in World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, and top-tier WWE performers Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns having to work a double shift at WrestleMania 40. During the first part of the program, The Rock is well-known for his intense promos outlining certain conditions laying the groundwork for an incredible confrontation.
When The Rock was first challenged by Cody Rhodes to a one-on-one bout during “The Grayson Waller Effect” at Elimination Chamber the drama started. Raising the stakes, Seth Rollins teamed up with Rhodes to challenge The Rock and Reigns in a tag bout. The Rock, though, had other ideas.
The Rock gave Reigns a personal nod during the “SmackDown” segment referring to him as his Tribal Chief and enhancing the plot. Rather than taking Rhodes on individually, The Rock laid down the gauntlet for a tag match bout at WrestleMania 40, but with certain conditions attached.
The Bloodline, or Reigns and his group, would not be allowed to watch Rhodes’ championship fight against Reigns on Night Two if Rollins and Rhodes win on the first night. The Rock, however, proposed the idea of a “Bloodline Rules” battle for the championship fight, where anything goes, should the babyface side lose.
The Rock made it plain that Rhodes may accept the challenge, but there would be repercussions if he did. The Rock promised to make sure Rhodes would not win the championship if he declined. WrestleMania 40 is already more exciting because of this high-stakes match, with fans anxious to see how each party would react.
Will Rhodes and Rollins accept The Rock’s challenge setting the stage for a double-duty WrestleMania weekend? Or will the Bloodline enforce their rules in a chaotic title match?
