WWE fans were not the only ones taken aback by a recent Backlash match announcement. Fans learned on Friday that Seth “Freakin'” Rollins will face the “Nigerian Giant” Omos in Puerto Rico on May 6, following the former’s triumph over Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39. Rollins moved to Twitter after the unveiling to answer in GIF form, with his reaction depicted by Jim Carrey from “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” stating “Alrighty then.” Another name to enter the GIF response discourse was “WWE Raw” announcer Corey Graves, who was introduced by a perplexed Nick Offerman in “Parks & Recreation.”

From a plot standpoint, Rollins and Omos haven’t had much onscreen contact that would justify such a high-profile confrontation, but one might argue that a battle doesn’t necessarily require a story. Brock Lesnar and Omos recently found themselves in a similar situation, with little time to prepare for their match at WrestleMania 39, despite the fact that many fans considered the battle between the two giants to be the highlight of night two.

With Rollins’ athleticism, the former WWE Champion might create his own unique spectacle that contrasts greatly from Omos’ clash with Lesnar. Omos’ manager MVP, ever the professional, attempted to make sense of the surprising booking on social media. “I’m good at what I do.” “I get the GIANT man GIANT matches,” MVP tweeted.

Rollins vs. Omos joins a growing Backlash card that includes Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar, Rhea Ripley defending her “WWE SmackDown” Women’s Title against Zelina Vega, Austin Theory defending his US Title against Bronson Reed & Bobby Lashley, and Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Matt Riddle battling The Bloodline.

Former WWE writer said Seth Rollins was “pissed” with RAW following the Wrestlemania segment

As witnessed during the RAW Seth Rollins arrived to the ring after the WWE Wrestlemania 39 broadcast but immediately departed without saying anything. Rollins was spotted arguing with the ringside workers during the commercial break, and he ended up tossing down a microphone he was carrying before the break finished. Fans on social media have questioned if the part was scripted correctly. Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. and co-host Jeff Dye shared their perspectives from ringside on their podcast. Dye made the following statement:

“They played a commercial during his intro, and then we could kind of hear him having a freak-out on some … production people. He was going ‘Why is there a commercial?!’ You couldn’t really hear what he was saying. You could just tell he was mad.”

Seth Rollins was pissed even backstage

Prinze Jr. then noted the following… “He said, ‘What the hell is going on?!’ I saw that coming out of his mouth. I think he was more pissed than pissed at them. I think he was pissed when he went backstage at whoever did that. But if I was him, I would’ve been just as angry, and I thought the way he dealt with it was so hardcore and awesome…”

“Instead of cutting a promo, he just throws the mic out of the ring and walked out — and walked out of the friggin’ show. You can tell me until you’re blue in the face that it was scripted, that is a bunch of BS. I know real stuff when I see it.” (quotes courtesy of WrestlingInc.com)
