One of the most well-known personalities in the world today is Dwayne Johnson. Much of the acclaim is due to his time spent in the WWE, where he rose to fame by playing The Rock. Despite being aligned as a heel at the time when he initially referred to himself as “The Rock,” his electric appearance and amusing promos immediately made him a fan favorite.

But as he advanced in Hollywood, he started to use his own name more and more, to the point that some of his younger followers are unaware of his background in wrestling. Many people have been left to question if this is related to the WWE owning the trademark on that moniker.

The WWE is renowned for owning the participants’ ring names. Even John Cena, who competes under his own name, has acknowledged in the past that the WWE is the rightful owner of the John Cena trademark. Is the same true with Dwayne Johnson and the moniker “The Rock”?

Does Dwayne Johnson own moniker, “The Rock”

One of the most important characters on WWE TV is The Rock. It’s odd that Vince McMahon doesn’t already own the name for this reason. In 2004, Dwayne Johnson made the startling admission that he and not a WWE official owned the rights to his ring name during an interview on The Howard Stern Show.

“I actually own it, I do, yeah,” Dwayne Johnson said. “It was an easy conversation. This is how it went down: I went to him [Vince McMahon], I talked to him and he knew what I wanted to do after wrestling because I’d been able to accomplish a lot. Which has always been great for me… I know he doesn’t [give away anything for free],”

Johnson strongly asserted that he did not have to pay anybody to use the brand when questioned if the WWE may attempt to acquire the rights to the moniker.

“No, no, no. I have my name, I own my own name. And all rights to it… I did not have to pay for it.

WWE fans think Johnson will return for a special Roman Reigns acknowledgment ceremony

Since the SmackDown Fox premiere in LA in October 2019, where he and Becky Lynch pint Baron Corbin to the joy of the crowd, the former champion turned Hollywood celebrity hasn’t made an appearance in front of a live WWE audience.

The Rock might potentially make a comeback to challenge his cousin Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 39, according to several stories and rumors. After WWE made a very intriguing revelation regarding the forthcoming Raw 30th-anniversary celebrations on January 23, curiosity is already intensifying.

The Usos and Solo Sikoa opened last night’s program by announcing that the Tribal Chief will be honored in a special ceremony held by The Bloodline the following week.

Afa and Sika, the Wild Samoans, are likely to attend, as well as Attitude Era favorite Rikishi, whose kids are a member of the group since they hinted that every generation of The Bloodline will be represented.

Fans are more anticipating Rock, who is unquestionably a member of the family, appearing to face Roman.
