World Wrestling Championships 2022: Results

The World Wrestling Championships 2022 got underway on September 10, 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia. India has sent a 30-member contingent to the championships in men’s and women’s freestyle and in Greco Roman wrestling too. Olympic medalists Ravi Kumar Dahiya and Bajrang Punia will lead the men’s squad. Three time Commonwealth Games (CWG) gold medalist Vinesh Phogat will take charge of the women’s team. Vinesh Phogat defeated U20 world champion Antim Panghal to book a spot in the world championships squad. CWG champion Deepak Punia, Sakshi Malik and silver medalist Anshu Malik withdrew from the championships owing to injuries. While CWG bronze medalist Pooja Sihag pulled out of the championships due to her husband’s demise.

GRECO ROMAN:

India ends its campaign in men’s Greco Roman wrestling. Out of the ten wrestlers, only 3 could win their first round.
