Otsuka’s volleyball journey began in her third year of elementary school when she joined the Panasonic Panthers Junior Club. Recognizing his potential, the Japan Volleyball Federation invited him to attend the prestigious “JVA Men’s and Women’s Elite Training Camp” in the sixth year. The aim of the camp was to scout future talents for the national team, and Otsuka’s performance caught the attention of coaches and selectors.
In 2017, at the age of 17, Otsuka received his first call-up to represent Japan in the men’s national under-19 volleyball team. His dedication and skills on the field led to subsequent call-ups for the U-21 and U-23 teams.
