Every two years, the European Volleyball Confederation, the European volleyball federation, hosts a competition for national volleyball teams with players under the age of 17 called the European Men’s U-17 Volleyball Championship. The volleyball community in Montenegro is excited for EuroVolley U17M 2023, which will take place in Podgorica from July 19 to 30. At a press conference that was held at the Voco hotel about a week before the competition began, Ivan Bokovi, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG), addressed the media.
Given the superb organization of the U17 Women’s competition held here in 2020, the European Volleyball Confederation has given our federation the task of planning the continental championship for young male players under the age of 17. This carries with it a great honor and duty for them. The Volleyball Federation of Montenegro has received praise from the CEV once more for previous efforts.
The top teams from all over the world will compete in a fantastic international competition at the CEV, the body in charge of policing the sport. On July 20, 2023, Finland and Netherlands will square off as part of the CEV Men’s U17 European Volleyball Championship. Two outstanding teams are participating in this competition. The 2021 CEV Men’s U17 European Volleyball Champions, the Netherlands, placed sixteenth, while Finland took the thirteenth spot. Both teams are vying for the top spot on the table.
In Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, and at the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, the top 16 teams from Europe comprised of competitors born in 2007 and under will compete. In addition to the host Montenegro, fans and spectators in Podgorica and Montenegro will have the chance to watch the teams from Italy, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Serbia, and other volleyball powerhouses. A total of 16 nations will compete. By hosting this European Championship, the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro has given our young athletes the opportunity to take part in a significant competition and learn what it is like to represent our country on the European stage. The U17 European Championship in Podgorica is the first competition to use the new format, which features 16 national teams divided into two groups. Its organization is a significant undertaking.
