Khabib Nurmagomedov, an iconic figure in the world of mixed martial arts, boasts an undefeated record and a relentless fighting style. Renowned for his grappling expertise and dominant ground game, Khabib’s unrivaled skills inside the octagon, coupled with his humble demeanor outside of it, have earned him immense respect and admiration from fans worldwide.

However, UFC veteran Kevin Lee recently revealed Khabib Nurmagomedov’s vulnerability, expressing his belief that he could have capitalized on it if they had ever faced each other in the octagon. Khabib, widely recognized as one of the most accomplished and legendary UFC fighters, achieved an unparalleled level of success throughout his career. Notably, he remained undefeated in all of his UFC fights and chose to retire in 2020, leaving the sport without ever experiencing a defeat.

Kevin lee wanted to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov

During an interview with Aaron Bronsteter of TSN, Lee shared a tinge of regret regarding the missed opportunity to face Khabib Nurmagomedov, expressing a hint of disappointment in not being able to test his skills against the renowned fighter.

“There was a few times where we would’ve fought. But yeah, had I beat Tony, had things been a little bit different, that would’ve been just a massive fight,” he said. “I thought that his body was open. I thought that he stood very square. I thought that pressure forward style and kind of take it on the chin doesn’t lend well to shots to the body. And it would’ve opened up eventually for a head kick.”

Kevin Lee doesn’t want to talk about his chances against Khabib

As Lee prepares to make his highly-anticipated Octagon comeback this week, facing Rinat Fakhretdinov at UFC Vegas 75, he candidly acknowledged that discussing a potential fight with the retired Khabib Nurmagomedov serves no practical purpose at this point.

“I don’t necessarily want to talk about fighting Khabib ‘cause it’s kind of pointless. I’ll do it because it’s interesting, the fighting style. I love fighting so much, I love MMA, I love breaking down different fighters and what their attributes are, what they’re capable of. It’s interesting, but it’s pointless at the end of the day. He’s gone and it didn’t happen, so there’s no sense in focusing on the past.”

Khabib embarked on his UFC journey in January 2012, facing Kamal Shalorus and commencing an undefeated streak that lasted until his final bout against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in October 2020. Throughout this remarkable span, Khabib remained undefeated, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.
