Dana White confirms Derrick Lewis’ re-signing with UFC

During a Power Slap 4 post-fight press conference in Las Vegas, Dana White was questioned about Lewis’ status, and he spoke highly of “The Black Beast.” He turned to UFC executive Hunter Campbell, who confirmed that Lewis has indeed inked a new deal with the promotion.

“Listen, I love Derrick,” White said. “Personally and professionally, (I) love the guy. So yes.”

The former title contender, known for having the most knockout wins in UFC history, ended a three-fight losing streak with his victory over de Lima, leading to yet another memorable post-fight celebration.

Derrick Lewis wants another title run

During UFC 291, the one-time contender for the UFC heavyweight title disclosed that his contract reached its conclusion following a TKO victory over Marcos Rogerio de Lima on the main card. However, Lewis (27-11 MMA, 18-9 UFC) is eager to extend his affiliation with the promotion by seeking a re-signing.

“I’m hoping to stay here in the UFC,” Lewis said at his UFC 291 post-fight news conference. “I like it here. I like the staff. … Everybody is cool here except for the media – y’all d*ckheads. F*ck all y’all, really. But go ahead – next question.”

Derrick Lewis arrived at UFC 291 carrying the weight of his most challenging phase in the octagon, experiencing a 1-4 record in his last five UFC fights, each ending with a stoppage. However, Saturday’s victory not only marked a return to the win column but also sparked the belief that he could embark on another pursuit of the coveted title.
