Justin Gaethje still believes Charles Oliveira has the “quit” gene, and he intends to prove it at UFC 274. Gaethje is slated to face Oliveira in the main event of UFC 274 for the lightweight championship, and many have likened Oliveira to Khabib Nurmagomedov in the build-up to the bout. However, for ‘The Highlight,’ he does not believe that is the case since he believes the current champion is not nearly as dangerous as Nurmagomedov.

Justin Gaethje thinks Khabib is more dangerous

Gaethje said at media day about Oliveira,“Charles certainly is not more dangerous than Khabib. His ability to take damage is not the same, proven through the times we’ve seen him fight. You know, all my criticism of Charles is from a kid that we were talking about, that we all watched grow, and now we’re talking about a man with confidence. It’s a different person, but ultimately the same Charles is still there. The same Charles that fought Cub Swanson, the same Charles that fought Donald Cerrone, the same Charles that fought RDA, Pettis. Choices were made in that by him and the choice to quit was made, and I’m going to give him that choice on Saturday night, I guarantee that.”

Oliviera a QUITTER

When Justin Gaethje is asked if Charles Oliveira has demonstrated that he is no longer a quitter, he responds yes. Gaethje, on the other hand, believes that once a quitter, always a quitter, which is why he thinks comparing Oliveira to Nurmagomedov is ridiculous.

Gaethje said, “That’s fine, and I think that’s true, however, you know once a coward always a coward. I’m not calling him a coward, but I’m saying that’s, you can’t just take that away. It’s there. Khabib never showed you that, and that’s why you can’t compare those two.”

Charles Oliviera vs Justin Gaethje

UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is expected to defend his championship against Justin Gaethje at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, in the promotion’s forthcoming Pay-Per-View (PPV) event. Oliveira is coming off a third-round submission win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 269, while Gaethje won a unanimous decision over Michael Chandler at UFC 268. Oliveira has a 32-8-0 record and beat Chandler at UFC 262 in May 2021.
