UFC 290 has suffered a significant blow as a highly anticipated showdown between Sean Brady and Jack Della Maddalena, which was expected to be an explosive clash, has been unexpectedly dropped from the event lineup. Various sources confirm that the welterweight bout has been pulled from the card merely a week before the scheduled fight night, leaving fans disappointed.

Breaking the news on social media, Full Send was the first to report that Sean Brady, aged 30, has been compelled to withdraw from the card due to an undisclosed injury. The report mentions that Brady is presently receiving medical treatment at a hospital, but no additional information has been provided regarding the nature or severity of his condition.

With a desire to rebound from his defeat by second-round TKO against Belal Muhammad in October of last year, Sean Brady, currently holding the eighth position in the rankings, had been aiming for a comeback at UFC 290.

Does Jack Della Maddalena have a new opponent?

As of now, the UFC has not disclosed any information regarding a replacement opponent for Jack Della Maddalena or whether he will still be part of the UFC 290 card. However, an intriguing development emerged during the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4 on Thursday. Joaquin Buckley, in a separate social media post, shared a video documenting his encounter with Della Maddalena, who hails from Perth.

In the post, Buckley, also known as “New Mansa,” revealed that the organization had contacted him to step in for the injured Brady. However, Buckley expressed a preference for competing at a later date, specifically at UFC 293.

“Why not next week?” Della Maddalena asked. “I ain’t ready man. I’m eating, you’re eating good!” Buckley said. “Why rush it?” For the fans, right?”

Just as it seemed that they had reached a mutual understanding, Della Maddalena suggested a weight modification to 185 pounds. However, this proposal was promptly rejected without any hesitation or consideration.

Fights slated for UFC 290

Mark your calendars for July 8th when the highly anticipated UFC 290 takes place at the prestigious T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Serving as the main event, fans can expect an electrifying clash as featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski squares off against interim title holder Yair Rodriguez in a riveting showdown to unify the division’s titles.

Fresh off his appearance at UFC 284 in February, Alexander Volkanovski faced his first loss in nearly a decade, falling short in his bid for double-champ status against Islam Makhachev in a closely contested split decision. Meanwhile, Yair Rodriguez secured the interim title on the same eventful night, delivering a second-round submission victory over Josh Emmett in the co-main event.
