Sean Strickland finds himself in a fortunate position as it appears he received a favorable opportunity. Despite securing a dominant TKO victory over Abus Magomedov, a relative UFC newcomer, in July, and claiming his second consecutive win, Strickland’s recent performances do not quite qualify as the high-profile victories typically expected to thrust a fighter into immediate title contention.

Nevertheless, Adesanya’s consistent reign at the top of the middleweight division, aside from a minor setback against Alex Pereira, coupled with Dricus Du Plessis’ apparent unavailability for a title fight in September, has left the UFC without any standout top contender other than Strickland. This situation presents an opportunity that Strickland appears well-prepared to capitalize on.

Sean Strickland seems ready for Israel Adesanya

Recently, Sean Strickland had a conversation with MMA reporter Helen Yee, discussing the chance to compete for a UFC title. During this interview, he explicitly emphasized that the only obstacle preventing him from accepting the fight was the financial aspect. As long as the UFC was willing to offer an appropriate compensation, he expressed his readiness to step up and take on the challenge.

“Pay me money and I’ll f—king fight him for an hour straight,” Strickland said. “Or at least until somebody wakes up or goes to sleep.”

During a recent interview with media personality Dave Schmulenson, popularly known as ‘The Schmo,’ Strickland provided fans with an update on his possible title fight. As expected, he didn’t hold back on his trademark nationalistic aggression, giving a glimpse of his unique approach to the subject.

“You guys—that little Chinese sl*t—we’re trying to make it happen,” Strickland explained. “I’m trying to represent for America. I’m trying to represent for Australia. Because, I’ll tell you what Australians, I am more Australian than f—king Izzy. Izzy is a Chinese man. I ride motorcycles, I sail boats, I like sex with hot women.

Strikland claims he has never seen Adesanya fight

Strickland’s sarcastic remark about easily defeating Adesanya was undoubtedly apparent, but he took a rather unexpected stance when asked about his strategy to conquer the ‘Last Stylebender.’ Surprisingly, he confessed that he hadn’t paid much attention to the reigning champion, which raised eyebrows among fans and pundits alike.

“I’ve never really actually watched an Izzy fight. I’ve watched clips of it. I don’t know Schmo, you’ve watched a lot of fighting, what do I gotta do?”

The 32-year-old Strickland, who once held the King of the Cage title, openly admitted that he had only witnessed one Adesanya fight – the thrilling clash with Kelvin Gastelum. Interestingly, that particular bout appears to be the sole reference point Strickland is currently relying on for shaping his potential gameplan against the City Kickboxing star.
