Sean O’Malley holds the belief that Henry Cejudo’s fighting days are over. Henry Cejudo’s recent withdrawal from his scheduled fight against Marlon Vera at UFC 292 due to a shoulder injury has led Sean O’Malley to speculate about Cejudo’s fighting future. O’Malley, known for his outspoken nature, theorizes that Cejudo’s comeback did not unfold as planned, leading him to believe that Cejudo will not step back into the Octagon again.
“I think this, Henry is done for good. He is done, he is retired, he is not coming back,” O’Malley said on his “Timbo Sugar Show” podcast. “He tried to come back, and no one really cared. He got paid a little bit of money. A shoulder injury, so that must have been pretty bad that he couldn’t fight. Dude, and he’s already 36.”

Henry Cejudo, following his successful title defense against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 in May 2020, announced his retirement from the sport. However, after nearly three years of absence, he made a comeback to challenge Aljamain Sterling for the championship at UFC 288 in May. Despite a valiant effort, Cejudo fell short in a split decision loss.
Although Henry Cejudo suffered a shoulder injury and had to withdraw from his scheduled bout, he hasn’t expressed any intention of retiring from fighting. Cejudo remains determined to make a comeback and is focused on rehabilitating his shoulder, expecting a recovery period of around six to eight weeks. His ultimate goal is to regain the bantamweight title and continue his pursuit of greatness in the UFC.
Sean O’Malley, who initially predicted Henry Cejudo would defeat Marlon Vera, finds himself in the spotlight at UFC 292. O’Malley will head the event as he challenges Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight title.
During a discussion, Sean O’Malley analyzed Frankie Edgar’s fight against Marlon Vera, noting Edgar’s effective takedowns and control despite eventually succumbing to a late-round finish. Considering his wrestling background, O’Malley speculates that Henry Cejudo could employ a similar game plan to neutralize Vera’s offensive skills and secure a victory.
