In an unexpected turn of events, the UFC 291 fight card at The Delta Centre in Salt Lake City, Utah, witnessed a change as Roman Dolidze steps in to face Paulo Costa, replacing the originally scheduled opponent, Ikram Aliskerov.

After initially keeping mum about the cancellation, Paulo Costa has now hinted at a new matchup. The fighter, known as ‘Borrachinha,’ is set to take on Khamzat Chimaev in a highly anticipated bout at UFC 294, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi in October.

Paulo Costa has an impressive MMA record

Despite his impressive MMA record of 14 wins and only one defeat, Paulo Costa has only fought once in the UFC. That lone loss came against his fierce rival, Khamzat Chimaev, at Brave CF 23. Currently, Roman Dolidze will step in to replace Costa and face Aliskerov in the upcoming matchup. ‘Borrachinha’ has yet to provide a reason for withdrawing from the scheduled fight.

Contrary to rumors spread by a fake “UFC Roster Watch” Twitter account, Paulo Costa has not been dropped from the UFC roster. While there were initial speculations about his withdrawal from the fight against Ikram Aliskerov, these claims were unfounded. Costa remains under contract with the UFC.

Paulo Costa wants Khamzat Chimaev next

Subsequently, Paulo Costa dropped subtle hints on social media, suggesting that he is preparing for a significant showdown against the undefeated UFC fighter Chimaev in Abu Dhabi this October. However, Costa’s behavior has left fans frustrated, as he has previously made similar actions without following through.

During UFC 284, Paulo Costa withdrew from his scheduled bout against Robert Whittaker, which seemed to be confirmed by “The Reaper.” Now, Costa has once again backed out of another fight without providing a credible explanation, leaving enraged fans demanding his dismissal from the UFC.
