In a daring assertion, Michael Chandler has put forth a noteworthy statement regarding Justin Gaethje’s chances of claiming a title in the UFC. Gaethje, who now boasts a record of 25-4 MMA and 8-4 UFC, secured the “BMF” title by delivering a spectacular second-round head kick knockout to Dustin Poirier in the recent UFC 291 main event at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. This victory marked Gaethje’s redemption for his previous loss to “The Diamond” in 2018.

Securing this impressive victory, Gaethje has now positioned himself for a potential title shot against the winner of the upcoming lightweight championship clash between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira. The highly anticipated bout is set to headline UFC 294 on October 21 in Abu Dhabi.

Chandler believes in Gaethje’s ability

No matter the result of the Makhachev vs. Oliveira bout, Chandler, who accurately foretold Gaethje’s triumph over Poirier, envisions this enhanced and polished version of “The Highlight” prevailing against both Makhachev and Oliveira.

“Justin Gaethje is no longer just a pugilist who goes out there and swings for the fences and wants to brawl,” Chandler said on his YouTube channel. “Justin Gaethje is on a quest to win a world title, and I think Justin Gaethje will go out there and win a world title. Whether it’s Makhachev or Oliveira, Gaethje’s going to get that title fight next.

“I think Justin Gaethje is the UFC lightweight champion by the first quarter of next year. I think he beats Islam. I think he beats Oliveira. Justin Gaethje has cleaned up. He already had all the attributes, he already had the cardio, the speed, the power, he’s got great wrestling defense. He already had all the attributes. But now, him honing in those skills, it’s gonna be tough for one of those dudes to beat him, I think.”

Can Justin Gaethje win UFC title?

Michael Chandler confidently predicts that Justin Gaethje will ascend to the UFC lightweight champion throne by the first quarter of the upcoming year. According to Chandler, Gaethje is poised to conquer both Islam and Oliveira, having refined his already impressive attributes such as cardio, speed, power, and exceptional wrestling defense. Chandler believes that Gaethje’s honed skills will prove to be a formidable challenge for anyone standing in his way.

In his pursuit of the undisputed championship, former interim titleholder Gaethje has encountered two setbacks. He fell short against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 and also faced defeat against Oliveira at UFC 274. However, following his loss to Oliveira, Gaethje bounced back with two consecutive victories, defeating Rafael Fiziev and Poirier.
