Climbing the ranks to become a standout figure in the UFC’s lightweight division, Justin Gaethje showcased his remarkable knockout prowess against Dustin Poirier. Seizing the momentum from this remarkable triumph, Conor McGregor has turned to social media to issue a challenge to the emerging sensation. Nonetheless, Gaethje’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, attributes McGregor’s actions to an attempt at gaining attention rather than genuine intentions.

Following Gaethje’s momentous victory, Ali Abdelaziz engaged in a conversation with TMZ Sports, providing insights into the unfolding scenario. Gaethje’s impressive head kick knockout, securing the BMF belt during the main event of UFC 291, left audiences stunned by its brilliance. Amid the widespread admiration, there was a singular dissenting voice—none other than Conor McGregor, renowned as The Notorious. In a prompt response on Twitter, McGregor voiced his critique of Gaethje’s performance.

Conor McGregor accused of being jealous

Harking back to history, McGregor’s most recent bout traces its origins to his clash with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, a fight marked by McGregor’s leg injury. Responding to this, Abdelaziz firmly states, “Conor McGregor is presently a pretender, not a contender.”

Abdelaziz has attributed McGregor’s reaction to jealousy. He said, “Conor McGregor has lost touch with his identity. He’s no longer an active fighter; he’s a retired fighter. He isn’t even under the USADA program anymore, and his weight is approaching 200 pounds. His intentions are solely driven by seeking attention and recognition.”

“Justin Gaethje is a true gladiator, as is Dustin Poirier. Fighters like Kamaru Usman, Islam Makhachev, and Max Holloway are all cut from the same cloth. McGregor, on the other hand, no longer embodies that spirit,” he added.

McGregor’s next fight uncertain

Amid discussions about a potential matchup between McGregor and Michael Chandler, who notably coached against him on The Ultimate Fighter, concrete arrangements remain absent. Current indications from various sources point to McGregor’s exclusion from the USADA testing pool, implying a mandatory waiting period of a minimum of six months before he becomes eligible for competition once more.

Abdelaziz’s perspective adds to the growing skepticism surrounding the possibility of a matchup between Conor McGregor and Justin Gaethje. This leads to the pertinent question: who will step up as Gaethje’s next prospective opponent? Abdelaziz delves into this query, creating a sense of anticipation among fans awaiting further details.

Aside from the ongoing Gaethje-McGregor narrative, Ali Abdelaziz, a notable figure renowned for managing fighters like Islam Makhachev, Kamaru Usman, Henry Cejudo, Kayla Harrison, and Khabib Nurmagomedov, is about to assume a different role.
