During the 2023 NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat, controversy surrounded Conor McGregor as he delivered an excessively hard punch to the Heat mascot, Burnie, during a failed skit. The forceful blow McGregor delivered to Burnie during the failed skit caused Burnie to suffer a concussion and a broken nose, leading to his hospitalization.

The skit-gone-wrong was a collaboration between McGregor and the Miami Heat to promote his cryo-based pain relief spray brand, TIDL Sport. The incident reportedly led to the Heat pulling out of a deal with McGregor to make TIDL Sport the team’s official pain relief partner.

Additionally, McGregor faced accusations of committing a violent sexual assault on a woman in a bathroom at the after-party of the game. The woman filed a police report, but McGregor has denied the allegations.

Heat Take Allegations Against McGregor ‘Very Seriously’

The string of controversies has led to calls for McGregor to be banned from the NBA. The Heat have said that they are “reviewing the matter” and that they “take these allegations very seriously.”

McGregor has a history of making headlines for his bad behavior. In 2018, authorities arrested him in Miami for punching a man in the face at a bar. In 2019, he faced another arrest for throwing a dolly through a bus window at a UFC event.

It remains to be seen whether McGregor will be able to recover from the latest controversy. However, it is clear that his behavior has put a severe dent in his reputation.

In addition to the Heat, McGregor has also lost sponsorship deals with several companies, including Reebok and Anheuser-Busch. It is likely that he will continue to face consequences for his actions for some time to come.

The Miami Heat is a well-respected organization with a reputation for being clean and professional. The incidents involving McGregor have been a major black eye for the team and have called into question their judgment.
