One-time UFC middleweight contender, Sam Alvey, has emerged as a potential adversary for Brendan Schaub’s hypothetical comeback to the fighting arena. Nearly a decade has passed since Schaub’s participation in any combat-related activity.

Following a forceful first-round knockout by Travis Browne during UFC 181, the now 40-year-old has gracefully transitioned into a thriving profession as both a stand-up comic and podcast host.

In a recent exchange with Jorge Masvidal, “Big Brown” casually mentioned the notion of staging a return to the spotlight. This led the former UFC title contender to promptly suggest a lineup of former UFC fighters for Brendan Schaub to potentially face within his Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA organization.

Alvey ready to take on Brendan Schaub

News of Schaub’s potential resurgence in the fighting scene reached Alvey’s ears, and the ever-grinning fighter expressed his willingness to step into the ring with the ex-UFC heavyweight, specifically within Alvey’s favored weight class.

“I’m willing to fight you,” Alvey said. “You want two things. You need heavyweight, you need retired. I’m willing to fight heavyweight. I’ll be the first to admit, I am not a true heavyweight. I’m willing to do it, I’ve never turned down a fight.”

Entering the UFC fold in 2014, Alvey embarked on an extensive journey within the promotion, etching his name into its history. Yet, his most notable distinction arose from an impressive series of outcomes that marked his path before ultimately bidding farewell to the league.

Alvey looking to gain momentum

Commencing with a defeat at the hands of Antônio Rogério Nogueira in 2018, the 37-year-old encountered a series of setbacks spanning nine contests, culminating in a knockout loss to Michał Oleksiejczuk in the preceding year. This marked the definitive point at which he parted ways with the UFC.

Alvey managed to reclaim victory earlier this year by triumphing over Cameron Graham in a heavyweight clash at B2 Fighting Series 183. Should Schaub be genuinely committed to his fighting comeback, it’s plausible that he might ponder over the possibility of locking horns with the former middleweight contender.
