Conor McGregor seems primed for battle, as indicated by his recent Instagram update. The Irish fighter is gearing up for a UFC return, aiming to take on three prominent MMA figures in his envisioned comeback, as per his social media post.

The outline suggests that McGregor’s timeline includes a clash with Michael Chandler after their duel on The Ultimate Fighter, set for December. Yet, his ambitions don’t halt there. In 2024, he intends to enter the Octagon twice more: first against Justin Gaethje, then, potentially, culminating the trilogy against Nate Diaz.

Naturally, these are all speculations stemming solely from McGregor’s statements thus far. Nothing has been substantiated or officially verified. Moreover, in the event of a potential loss to Chandler in his comeback match, McGregor’s prospects for the Gaethje bout and possibly even the Diaz showdown might be considerably diminished.

McGregor’s much-awaited return to the Octagon

The journey back to the competitive arena has been an arduous one for the ex-lightweight champion. However, UFC enthusiasts worldwide will surely rejoice at his return. McGregor, now 35, last stepped into the Octagon in 2021, a match against Dustin Poirier ending in a devastating dual setback. Apart from the defeat, he endured a fractured tibia, fueling speculation that this could potentially mark the end of his illustrious UFC career.

The injury unfolded as McGregor took a step back, resulting in a severe ankle snap. It wasn’t just the global audience that believed McGregor’s career might be in jeopardy. In a revealing moment within his May-released Netflix documentary, he confessed that even he thought the incident marked the end of his career.

“I thought it was over as well, that’s why I flipped into a different mode. Now, it was the adrenaline as well, and I know it would’ve calmed down and part of me is thinking ‘Jesus, imagine it was just taken from me like that.’ I would be a different person, and it was a bit scary, to be honest. But it’s McGregor forever. That’s it! It’s done. It’s McGregor forever and don’t you forget it.”

McGregor has transformed his body

Titled ‘McGregor Forever,’ the Irish icon’s Netflix documentary spans four parts, delving into the backstage aspects of his journey and illustrating the demands of being a 35-year-old fighter. Alongside his rehabilitation from the career-threatening injury, the ex-world champion has devoted considerable hours to the gym, focusing on muscle gain and potentially achieving his peak physical condition. It’s rumored that he reached an impressive 190lbs of lean muscle mass at his peak. With injury concerns behind him, McGregor also resumed sparring sessions, continuing his quest for a triumphant return to the Octagon.

“Justin, I’ll slap you around. I’m the real bmf, he can fight for pennies if he wants, but I want spirits, I call the shots. I’m in it to launch shots, f*** Chandler, you want it call for it.”

In a conversation about a prospective clash with McGregor earlier this year, Gaethje implied that the fight wouldn’t materialize unless there’s concrete evidence of the Notorious one being drug-free.
