Conor McGregor has devised a strategic plan for his two-fight comeback. Originally, he was set to take on Michael Chandler following their joint experience on The Ultimate Fighter, which they filmed together in Las Vegas earlier this year.

Nevertheless, it seems that Conor McGregor has shifted his focus away from the fight with Michael Chandler and is now eyeing a trilogy showdown with Nate Diaz. This ambitious plan will come after his upcoming boxing debut against Jake Paul in Dallas on Saturday night.

Conor McGregor looking for options to fight

Initially, Conor McGregor’s sights are set on challenging Justin Gaethje, who recently claimed the BMF championship title by delivering a knockout head kick to Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 last weekend.

“Regardless of that nonsense match me and Nate will be completing the trilogy,” McGregor tweeted. “I am going to grab that bmf belt right quick for us for us to compete for it in the trilogy.”

The rivalry between McGregor and Diaz traces back to December 2015, when Diaz, in a notably explicit callout, challenged the newly crowned undisputed featherweight champion.

McGregor and Diaz will look to settle score

In March 2016, a twist of fate occurred when Rafael dos Anjos withdrew from UFC 196 due to injury. This unforeseen turn of events paved the way for Diaz to step in as a replacement against McGregor. McGregor was so assured of his victory that he agreed to take on the late-notice fight at welterweight.

Following a formidable first round, the Irishman’s energy began to wane, leading to him being rocked, and eventually attempting a takedown against an opponent renowned for his Black Belt submission expertise.
