Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor intends to retire. Following his trilogy clash with Dustin Poirier in July 2021, McGregor, often known as “The Notorious,” has remained absent from the octagon. Unfortunately, during the final moments of the first round, the Irish fighter sustained a leg injury, leaving him sidelined for more than a year due to his injuries.

The ex-two-division titleholder is edging closer to his return. While the exact date of his comeback remains undisclosed, McGregor is expected to step back into action in a welterweight bout against Michael Chandler later this year. This anticipation stems from their roles as coaches on the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter, which has recently concluded filming.

Does Conor McGregor really have 2 UFC fights left

In the latest installments of The MMA Hour hosted by Ariel Helwani, Conor McGregor discussed his impending return. During these discussions, McGregor touched upon issues faced by “The Predator” in his dealings with the UFC following his departure from the organization in January. According to McGregor, the recent statements made by the former heavyweight champion are not experiences he can personally empathize with.

The previous titleholder in the lightweight division also revealed that his existing UFC contract is set to conclude after his next two scheduled fights. McGregor expressed his desire to finish his career under the umbrella of the Dana White-led promotion rather than exploring opportunities as a free agent.

Jed I. Goodman took to his Twitter account and wrote, “Ariel says Conor has two fights left on his deal.”

McGregor has previously showcased his love for UFC

Conor McGregor had previously expressed his deep attachment to the UFC, describing it as the ultimate platform for him.
