As Conor McGregor edges nearer to his comeback following a leg injury in the clash with Dustin Poirier, he was lined up for coaching duties in TUF 31 opposite Chandler, setting the stage for a future showdown. Yet, McGregor’s recent Twitter revelation has shed light on a change of course. The UFC’s enthusiasm for the fight has waned, hinting at divergent plans for McGregor’s return to the octagon.

“I’ll do it if they want, no prob. I don’t think they want him no more tho. There’s loads of juicy fights around and my return date is my return date. I never gave a fuck about who it was. Ever. I’ll fight anyone. I’ll even fly them to me, ask malinaggi. Flown in and bet around,” McGregor tweeted.

Conor McGregor refrained from offering a precise explanation for the UFC’s decision against the fight, leaving the rationale behind the Michael Chandler matchup’s cancellation shrouded in uncertainty. Similarly, the identity of the UFC’s new preferred opponent for McGregor remains unknown.

However, McGregor’s recent expressed interest in battling Justin Gaethje for the BMF belt could potentially shed light on the direction the promotion might be considering.
