Canelo Alvarez is poised to engage in a highly anticipated clash with Jermall Charlo for his traditional September 16th spectacle. Yet, a peculiar twist unfolds as the UFC casts a shadow over the esteemed Mexican boxer by scheduling a UFC Fight Night event at Canelo’s favored boxing sanctuary in Las Vegas.

Maintaining a veil of secrecy surrounding his upcoming bout, Canelo Alvarez has remained tight-lipped, leaving ample room for speculation and the revelations shared by others. While the esteemed boxer revealed his intention to enter the ring in September under the banner of Premier Boxing Champions, he has refrained from divulging the identity of his adversary officially.

Will Canelo’s fight be cancelled?

Jermall Charlo appears to be the favored contender in Canelo’s initial bout as part of a three-fight agreement negotiated with PBC. However, before the official announcement unfolds, Canelo and his team face a formidable hurdle—securing the venue.

Canelo holds a strong desire to compete in Las Vegas, but a significant obstacle arises due to the UFC’s intentions of hosting the Grasso vs. Shevchenko 2 and Rakhmonov vs. Gastelum fights on the very same date and at the same location.

Will Canelo square off in Las Vegas?

In a recent announcement, the enterprise overseen by Dana White unveiled their plans to seize control of the T-Mobile Arena on the designated day, leaving no room for Canelo to stage his fight there on that particular evening.

Canelo has a fondness for the grandeur of the MGM Grand Garden as a venue for his battles. However, his hopes of fighting there on September 16 are dashed, as the venue has already been reserved for a musical event, rendering it an unavailable option for Canelo.

With over two months remaining until Canelo Alvarez steps into the ring for his second fight of the year, the team is diligently exploring various possibilities to secure a Las Vegas location for the highly anticipated event.
