Lauren Davis, an American tennis player, was born on October 9, 1993. She has won two singles championships on the WTA Tour and had a career-high singles ranking of world No. 26 in May 2017. She is renowned for her aggressive backhand, speed, and strength on clay courts. On the ITF Women’s Circuit, she has also won eight singles championships. In Gates Mills, Ohio, on October 9, 1993, Davis was born. At age nine, she started tennis lessons. She left her hometown when she turned 16 to attend the Evert Tennis Academy.

As a junior, Davis attained a career-high ranking of No. 3. In September 2008, at the age of 14, she made her ITF Junior Circuit debut as a wildcard at the 2008 US Open, losing to Ajla Tomljanovic. At a USTA competition in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 2010, Davis won her first professional title on clay while still a junior. She subsequently embarked on a 27-match winning streak before capturing her second professional title in Puerto Rico. She finished her junior career by competing in the 2011 Australian Open’s third round.

At Wimbledon 2019, Davis was a lucky loser who advanced to the main draw despite losing to Kristie Ahn in the final round of qualifying. In the opening round, she defeated Kateryna Kozlova in a resounding four sets. In the second, she won in three sets over fifth-seeded and the defending champion Angelique Kerber.  After taking a hiatus due to an injury after dropping the first set, Davis returned and won the final 45 games to Kerber’s 15 to claim her first top-10 triumph since 2017 and just the fourth of her career.  Carla Suárez Navarro then stopped her winning streak in the third round. In the Washington Open quarterfinals, Davis defeated future champion Jessica Pegula but was defeated.

Venus Williams defeated Davis in the opening round of the Cincinnati Open, ending a four-match losing streak. At the US Open, Davis defeated Johanna Larsson in straight sets, but Ashleigh Barty knocked her out in the second round.

Who is Eddie Elliott?

According to thetennistime.com, Eddie Elliott, a former tennis player, has been Lauren’s coach since about mid-2018. Elliott, the son of Ed and Laurie Elliot, was born on March 14, 1989. His parents were missionaries in Africa when he was a young child, and they spent several years visiting villages in Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa, and Swaziland to preach the gospel. He attended University High School and grew up playing tennis in Juno Beach under the instruction of former No. 7 in the world Brenda Shultz-McCarthy after they returned to the United States.

Lauren’s WTA ranking has increased by more than 150 positions since the partnership with Elliott began. Davis won the ITF Bonita Springs title in 2019 under his direction, and she achieved enormous success at the start of this year by winning the Hobart International, her second WTA title.
