Bernarda Pera is an American professional tennis player. Pera has won nine singles championships and eight doubles titles on the ITF Circuit in addition to two singles titles and one doubles victory on the WTA Tour. On September 19, 2022, she reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 43, and on February 21, 2022, she reached a doubles ranking of No. 35. At the 2014 US Open, she made her WTA Tour debut alongside Tornado Alicia Black after receiving a wildcard into the doubles competition. She made her Grand Slam singles debut at the Australian Open after Margarita Gasparyan withdrew from the competition. She was given admittance as a lucky loser. Pera eliminated Johanna Konta, the ninth-seeded player, in the second round of the same competition. Barbora Strcová defeated her in the third round.

She battled top seed and 2019 champion Ashleigh Barty at the French Open for three sets, but she ultimately fell in the first round. She and Magda Linette advanced to the doubles semifinals where they fell to the second-seeded team of Barbora Krejková and Kateina Siniaková. Pera advanced past the Eastbourne qualification stage before losing to top seed and 2018 finalist Aryna Sabalenka in the opening round. She was defeated by Nao Hibino in the opening round at Wimbledon. Pera competed in the Hamburg European Open following Wimbledon.

She lost to Ysaline Bonaventure in the second round despite being the seventh seed. She fell to eventual finalist Anhelina Kalinina in the second round of the Budapest Grand Prix, where she was seeded third. At the Cincinnati Open, she lost in the second round to eventual finalist Jil Teichmann.  Prior to winning the year’s final Grand Slam title, she competed in the inaugural Cleveland Open, losing to fifth seed Nadia Podoroska in the opening round. She fell to Tamara Zidanek in the first round of the US Open.

Who is Guillermo Canas?

Guillermo Ignacio Canas, also known as Willy Canas, is an Argentine retired tennis player. Canas won the Canada Masters in 2002 and reached the French Open quarterfinals in 2002, 2005, and 2007. In June 2005, he achieved his career-high singles ranking of world No. 8. Canas returned to the circuit in September 2006 at the ATP Challenger level after being suspended in August 2005. Canas was named after Argentine tennis player Guillermo Vilas and was born in Buenos Aires. He began playing at the age of seven. In 1995, he turned professional and began playing on the junior circuit, where he had some success, including a runner-up finish in Surbiton, United Kingdom, and a win in the doubles event at the Italian Junior Championships.
