German tennis player Yannick Hanfmann competes professionally. His current ATP singles world No. 92 ranking is a career high and was initially attained in May 2021. His strong serves and groundstrokes are well-known. Tennis was Hanfmann’s sport during his time at the University of Southern California. He has had hearing loss ever since he was a baby. Hanfmann defeated Arthur De Greef and Uladzimir Ignatik in the qualifying rounds before making his ATP main draw debut at the 2017 BMW Open. He defeated Thomaz Bellucci and Gerald Melzer, both ranked No. 273 in the world, to advance to the quarterfinals, where he fell to second seed Roberto Bautista Agut.

He beat wildcard Thanasi Kokkinakis at the 2022 Australian Open to win his first match at a Grand Slam. He qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2023 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships, where he defeated second seed Tommy Paul and Yosuke Watanuki to advance to his tenth clay court quarterfinal. He then defeated Tomas Machac to advance to his fifth ATP semifinal. He was defeated in straight sets by Tomas Martin Etcheverry. As a result, on April 10, 2023, he gained nearly 25 positions, moving up to position 110.

He reached the third round on a Masters level for the first time in his career and in only his second Masters appearance at the 2023 Mutua Madrid Open after defeating Juan Pablo Varillas and the 15th seed Lorenzo Musetti in the main draw on his main draw debut as a qualifier. He qualified for the 2023 Italian Open (tennis) and entered the third round, where he defeated ninth seed Taylor Fritz and Nicolás Jarry to earn his second career victory and first top-10 victory of the year. He was ranked No. 101 at the time. He then defeated Marco Cecchinato to advance to his first Masters fourth round and sixth seed Andrey Rublev to advance to his first Masters quarterfinal with his third top-10 victory of his career.

At the 2005 Ordina Open, Uebel faced Guillermo Coria in the singles draw to make his ATP main draw debut.
