Sebastian Korda defeated compatriot Mackenzie McDonald for the sixth time on clay this year to advance to the second round of the French Open. Unlike many other American players, the 22-year-old has done exceptionally well on clay thus far in his career. Taking full advantage of the opportunity, he put on an impressive performance, defeating Maxime Cressy in straight sets. The match was not without its difficulties. He struggled in the second set, squandering a break lead on two occasions. Furthermore, he was on the verge of losing the break lead in the other two sets. These issues with maintaining leads and finishing sets and matches have plagued the Austrian in recent months.
