After making it to the third round of the recently finished Rome Masters, where he defeated Hugo Dellien and Dan Evans before putting up a respectable fight against Borna Coric, Roberto Carballes Baena improved his season w/l record to 12/12. The former ATP Quito champion unexpectedly won the clay-court tournament in Marrakech last month, giving him one of the season’s most unexpected victories. This accomplishment was especially noteworthy in light of his earlier 2023 season struggles with confidence, form, and fitness.

In his first appearance at the Geneva tournament over the weekend, Daniel Rincon put on two admirable performances, battling to three-set victories over Thiago Monteiro and Salvatore Caruso. The winner of the 2021 Boys’ US Open made his debut in the main draw of a tour-level competition just a few weeks ago in Barcelona. He entered with a wildcard and put on a respectable performance by defeating the somewhat more seasoned Jason Kubler in seven games.
