Thanasi Kokkinakis, a native of Adelaide, kept up his impressive performance at home by defeating Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarterfinals, 6-3 6-7 6-1, after a tough battle. His best victory was defeating the top seed and former Adelaide champion Andrey Rublev in the second round of his three matches thus far in this campaign. The world no. 110 started the 2022 campaign by making it to the semifinal of the ATP Adelaide first leg. The following week, he advanced even further by winning his first ATP title in the second leg.
In the ATP Adelaide 2 quarterfinal matchup against fellow countryman Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Roberto Bautista Agut displayed his best season performance, winning 6-3, 6-2. Last week, Sebastian Korda easily defeated him, and earlier this week, Robin Haase forced him to go the distance. The seasoned Spaniard has played 12 matches in Australia and won nine of them since suffering a major upset at the hands of Radu Albot in the Australian Open first round in 2021. In 2022, he assisted Spain in winning the ATP Cup, and a year later, he advanced to the third round of the Australian Open.
