The round of 64 match of Paris Masters between Dusan Lajovic and Benjamin Bonzi will take place on October 31.
Dusan Lajovic has had his fair share of injuries this year, but he handled the situation effectively and managed to re-enter the top 50 rankings. Among his notable achievements in 2023 was winning the Banja Luka title, where he defeated both Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev. Furthermore, he had strong showings in Masters events, making it to the Round of 16 in Cincinnati as a qualifier and reaching the third round in Shanghai. In three of his last five appearances in the main draw of the Paris Masters, Lajovic faced off against a French opponent. Unfortunately, he suffered losses in two of those matches, falling to Adrian Mannarino in 2020 and Corentin Moutet in 2019.
Benjamin Bonzi’s career has struggled to regain its previous momentum since he suffered an injury at the Monte Carlo Masters in April. While he has achieved some notable success at the Challenger level, such as being the runner-up in Rennes and Brest, he continues to face challenges when competing on the main tour. Since his injury at the Monte Carlo Masters earlier this year, Bonzi has participated in the main draw of five ATP events and, unfortunately, failed to progress beyond the opening round in four of them. These disappointing results have undone the progress he made over the past 20 months and led to his drop in the rankings, falling out of the top 50. The timing of Bonzi’s injury is particularly unfortunate, considering he had a breakthrough on the main tour in 2022 after years of difficulties. He had a strong start in 2023, reaching two championship matches, one of which was at a French indoor event in Marseille.
