Casper Ruud dominated his match against Swede qualifier Elias Ymer in the first round of the French Open a few days ago. He was completely in command throughout the game, allowing his opponent to win only nine games in three sets, 6-4 6-3 6-2. The 2022 US Open runner-up has reached the third round or higher in each of the last four French Opens. In addition, he played his first-ever grand slam championship match in Paris last year, where he was defeated by Rafael Nadal.

Despite a super-dominant start to the match by winning six games in a row against the dangerous but inconsistent Alexander Bublik, 6-0 4-6 4-6 6-3 7-5, Giulio Zeppieri had to fight back from a set deficit. It’s worth noting that he came into Paris having lost his previous three matches at all levels. Nonetheless, he has won four straight matches, including three convincing straight-set victories in the qualifiers, to turn things around. The Italian impressed in his only previous match against a top-5 player, and he hopes to replicate that level of competition when he faces current world #4 Casper Ruud at the French Open.
