The world No. 5 has not won multiple matches in any of her last four tournaments and is aiming for her first last-32 finish at Roland-Garros since 2020, her best result here being a quarterfinal in 2017.

In her previous three Roland-Garros appearances, Anna Blinkova had been defeated in either qualifying or the first round. This time, she dominated against Ysaline Bonaventure, winning 6-2, 6-0 in 55 minutes without facing a breakpoint. It is her third career victory at the tournament, following two in 2019. Four years ago, as a qualifier, the Russian reached the third round after winning four straight three-set matches, including one over Caroline Garcia. It is still her best Grand Slam result to date. She would be motivated to replicate that success after reaching the French final in Strasbourg last week.
