Roberto Bautista Agut and Stan Wawrinka are scheduled to take on one another in the last eight of the 2022 ATP Swiss Indoors.
Andy Murray’s run at the 2022 Swiss Indoors came to an end in the second round after falling to Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets. Despite earning the first break of the match in the third match after Bautista Agut had missed four break points in the previous game, the 35-year-old lost 3-6 2-6 in one hour and 40 minutes. Bautista Agut broke back right away before Murray blew a chance to tie the match in the seventh game, with a string of unforced errors costing him a crucial break. The Spaniard won three games in a row to take the first set, fending off two break points from Murray in the ninth and final game, and Murray had a similar story in the second.
Stan Wawrinka held firm against an inspired comeback from Brandon Nakashima in the second round of the Swiss Indoors Basel on Thursday, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. When he served for the match at 5-4 in the second set, Wawrinka appeared to be on his way to a straightforward victory in his first tour-level meeting with Nakashima. Nakashima had other plans, raising his level with some high-octane baseline hitting to force a decider, but Wawrinka maintained his composure to convert the only break point of the third set and clinch an engrossing two-hour, 12-minute victory.
Roberto Bautista Agut and Stan Wawrinka are scheduled to take on one another in the last eight of the 2022 ATP Swiss Indoors on Friday, October 28. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 23 to October 30, 2022.
