In a press conference on Monday, Djokovic said that ever since his first trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina more than ten years ago, he has enjoyed the atmosphere there.
After losing to Lorenzo Musetti in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters third round last week, Novak Djokovic made it clear that he wanted to forget about it as soon as possible. In Banja Luka, the World No. 1 will have the opportunity to do so. This week at the Srpska Open, the Serbian superstar is seeded first. In a press conference on Monday, Djokovic said that ever since his first trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina more than ten years ago, he has enjoyed the atmosphere there.
“It feels great to be here. I’ve been to Banja Luka several times in the past, once to visit the president and to receive a medal of honor and then the second time was in 2009, I played with Viktor Troicki an exhibition match in an indoor facility here,” Djokovic said. “So I remember those couple of visits really fondly.”

“The people welcome me wholeheartedly with great reception and so much love and support,” the Serbian added. “So I’m super excited to be here because I think it’s one of the best places for us Serbian tennis players and athletes in general to be able to perform where we have so much love and support from local people.”
Rafael Nadal, a 14-time Roland Garros winner, Novak Djokovic, a 2-time Roland Garros champion, and Carlos Alcaraz top the entry list, which was made public on Tuesday. At the clay-court major, where the Spaniard has compiled a record of 112-3, Nadal will attempt to add to his long list of victories. Last year, the lefty won his 14th clay Grand Slam by defeating four players who were ranked in the Top 10. The No. 1 player in the rankings right now, Novak Djokovic, won on the Parisian clay in 2016 and 2021. Serbian has an 85-16 record in the competition.
Alcaraz will make his third main draw appearance at Roland Garros in an effort to win his second major championship. When he reached the quarterfinals of the competition last year, the Spaniard had his longest run at the competition. In addition to 2021 finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Monte-Carlo champion Andrey Rublev, Holger Rune, Jannik Sinner, and 2015 Roland Garros champion Stan Wawrinka, Casper Ruud, last year’s finalist, will try to advance this year.
