One of three events on the ATP tour this week is the Open 13 Provence in Marseille. The dates are February 20–26, 2023. Holger Rune, the top seed, withdrew due to an injury, and Hubert Hurkacz took his place. The second seed after him is Jannik Sinner, and the third and fourth seeds are Alex de Minaur and Grigor Dimitrov, respectively. Another player to watch out for is Stan Wawrinka, a three-time Grand Slam champion. Andrey Rublev decided to participate in the Qatar Open rather than defend his title here. The stage is set for a thrilling week in Marseille with a large number of players in good form.

The competition made its ATP Tour debut in 1993. It was a part of the ATP World Series from 1993 until 1997. It was included in the ATP International Series of competitions the following year until 2008. It has been categorised as an ATP 250 event since 2009. The tournament has a draw of 28 players and is played on indoor hardcourts. Some of the most notable former winners in this area include Roger Federer, Andy Murray, and Boris Becker.

Schedule and Dates

The 2023 ATP Marseille Open will have five rounds of play excluding the qualifying rounds. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. The main draw of the tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 20 and conclude on Sunday February 26. Here is the tentative round-wise schedule of the ATP 250 event.

The top half of the draw is led by the first and third seeds, Hubert Hurkacz and Grigor Dimitrov, who have each been given a bye in the first round. The second round opponents for the former could be Arthur Rinderknech and Elias Ymer, respectively. In his opening match, Alexander Bublik will face Filip Krajinovic. In this half of the draw, David Goffin and Marc-Andrea Huesler are the other players to watch. The draw’s bottom half features Jannik Sinner and Alex de Minaur as its top players. They both received first-round byes.
