Here are the team standings of the World Shotgun Championships 2022 Osijek, Croatia.
The Italian team took the first spot in the senior medal standings with seven gold, five silver, and two bronze (14 in total). The British ended in second place with four gold and four silver. The United States earned third place with four gold, three silver, and two bronze. Athletes from 13 nations took home 16 quota places: USA (3), Slovakia (2), Australia, Chinese Taipei, Egypt, France, Spain, India, Italy, Sweden, Qatar, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom secured one each.
India bagged four medals at the World Shotgun Championships 2022, all in the junior category. The trio of Shapath Bharadwaj, Shardul Vihan, and Arya Vansh Tyagi who clinched the gold medal in the men’s team trap event. They defeated tournament favorites Italy 6-4 with an epic comeback to secure India’s first medal in the championships.
Areeba Khan secured the second medal for India in the form of a silver as she shot 29 targets out of 40 to finish second to Great Britain’s Sophie Herrmann (30). The 20-year-old shooter stormed into the ranking round scoring 110 out of 125 targets during the qualifications that took place over two days. She shot 19 in the 30-shot ranking round one to make her way into the medal match of the competition. Bhavtegh Singh Gill and Zahra Muffaddal Deesawala defeated USA’s Aidin Burns and Mikena Fulton 5-1 to win bronze in junior mixed skeet event. The fourth and the final medal was won by Bhavtegh Singh Gill, Rituraj Bundela and Abhay Singh Sekhon defeated Slovakia 6-2 in the bronze medal playoff of the men’s junior team skeet.
