Sumit Antil’s record-breaking gold in javelin

Participating in the F64 category, Sumit Antil clinched the gold medal with a world record throw of 68.55 meters.

“Neeraj Chopra inspired me & has played a role in my gold medal journey. More people will now pick javelin in India. My coach told me that around 50 players are learning javelin on the same ground where I was the only one to practice javelin,” said Sumit in an interaction with ANI.

“I wanted to touch the 70m mark, but I am very happy with my performance. In one competition, I was able to break the world record thrice. And I was also able to win the gold medal, I cannot express how I am feeling right now, I am just numb, to be honest,” he added.
