Tokyo Olympics Highlights: Sindhu adds to India's glory, Lovlina seals medal; India men's hockey team beat Japan

Day 7 of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 saw plenty of action, with a majority of the women competing. Here are the highlights.

Boxer Lovlina Borgohain assured a medal for India after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen to reach women’s 69kg semifinals. In badminton, star shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Akane Yamaguchi of Japan by a 21-13, 22-20 margin in the women’s singles quarter-final to reach the last four. Meanwhile, India women’s hockey team also advances after beating Ireland 1-0 in the pool A match. Boxer Simranjit Kaur did not qualify for the quarterfinal after losing her round of 16 match. Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat didn’t make it to the Women’s 25m Pistol final. India 3000m steeplechase athlete Avinash Sable set a new National Record but was unable to qualify to the next round since he finished 7th. Deepika Kumari lost to Korea’s An San in the quarterfinals after she defeated ROC’s Ksenia Perova in the pre-quarters. Follow Tokyo 2020 full coverage.

9:41 AM IST- Dutee Chand failed to qualify for the semifinals in women’s 100m. She finished 45th overall in the heats. She clocked 11.54s in the Heat.

6:10 AM IST- Deepika Kumari is in action, and is leading 5-3 after Round 4. Deepika is headed into a one arrow shoot-off.

5:48 AM IST- Sarnobat registered a score of 96 in Series 3 of Rapid qualification. In total, she scored 573 (precision+rapid). She is currently at the 32nd spot. Only the top eight shooters will qualify.

5:36 AM IST- Sarnobat has already begun, and registered a score of 96 in Rapid Series 1. She is at the 25th spot in the standings.
