The sixth day of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 was simply magnificent for India and the contingent. They enjoyed their best day out in the middle, with archery, badminton, hockey, shooting, and badminton all giving them glory. PV Sindhu advanced to the next round. India men’s hockey team secured their quarterfinal spot while Atanu Das, the archer put up a fabulous show. However, despite all the great things, there was one moment of sadness as MC Mary Kom lost in her bout and the curtains came down on her Olympic career. It was not an ideal end, but her contributions to boxing and India are legendary.

With the Tokyo Olympics completing one week, here is a look at India’s schedule on July 30. The Tokyo Olympics will now be in their final week and India will be aiming to give a lot of medals in order to end the tournament on a high.

All hopes on badminton and shooting

Manu Bhaker would be aiming to make it third time lucky as she looks to win a medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. She had suffered disappointment in the 10m air pistol individual and mixed events. In this event, she will be gunning for some improvement and end the Tokyo Olympics 2020 on a high. There are only three shooters remaining in the 50m air rifle event, notably Tejasvini Sawant, Sanjeev Rajput, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar. However, the medal hopes are pretty low in this event.

For Sindhu, she will have to get the better of Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Sindhu has a 11-7 advantage against Yamaguchi of Japan, having recently beaten her in the All England tournament quarterfinals. But, Yamaguchi has defeated Sindhu consistently in big tournaments. Sindhu will also have to contend with the likes of Nozomi Okuhara either in the semi-final or the final. There is also the possibility of Sindhu either facing Ratchanok Intanon or Tai Tzu Yin in the semifinal.

All eyes will also be on Deepika Kumari as she aims to create history and reach the medal stages. Deepika is just two wins away from securing the first-ever medal in archery for India. She is ranked No.1 in the world and this is the time to capitalise on a good chance to win the medal.
