France emerged as the best country at the second edition of the President’s Cup 2022 by clinching a total of six medals, out of which three were gold medals. While Germany and Italy bagged the second and third positions respectively in the team standings. Team India finished sixth on the table, winning a gold and a silver medal in the tournament. For India, it was world champion Rudrannksh Balasaheb Patil who claimed the gold in the men’s 10m air rifle competition, while World no. 04 Anjum Moudgil proved why she is India’s most experienced campaigner by clinching the silver medal for the country in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event.

Young sensation Rudrankksh who became the world champion after winning the gold at the ISSF World Championship 2022 in Cairo, Egypt, about a month ago, bagged the gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle at the ongoing ISSF President’s Cup in Cairo, Egypt. The 18-year-old defeated Danilo Sollazo of Italy 16-8 in the gold medal match. Danilo was also his opponent in the gold-medal match during the world championship. Rudrankksh was simply outstanding on Friday as none of his scores in the final went below the 10 mark. His scores in the gold medal playoff read 10.6, 10.6, 10.8, 10.3, 10.9, 10.6 , 10.5, 10.1, 10.0, 10.9, 10.7, and 10.6. With this, he has now become the new world no.1 in the discipline.

On the last day of the competition, Anjum Moudgil showed her class yet again. She stormed into the gold medal playoff by topping the ranking round with a whopping total of 412.9. However, Anjum was defeated by Germany’s Anna Janssen in the gold medal match that went to the end as both the shooters were 14-14 at a time. The former world no.1 shot an 8.8 in her last shot which cost her the opportunity to win the gold. Earlier, Anjum had qualified for the ranking round by placing fourth with a score of 591.
