Rohini court on Saturday sent Sushil Kumar to four more days of police custody. He is accused of murdering 23-year-old wrestler, Sagar Dhankar. Delhi police had requested seven more days of police custody. After the six days long custody ended, the police said Kumar did not cooperate in the six-day police custody. However, the court ordered another four days of police custody.

According to the prosecution, Kumar and other accused took the deceased allegedly to Chhatrasal Stadium and beat him up mercilessly.

Police interrogated 8 people on Wednesday. Questions surrounding the involvement of Olympian Sushil Kumar in the murder of 23-year-old Dhankar are asked. Police caught four people who were associates of Kumar from the Kanjhawala area of Delhi, in connection with the case. According to Delhi Police, all were found to be the associates of Kumar.

Sushil Kumar Case: Who was Dhankar and what happened on May 4

Dhankar was the son of a Delhi Police constable and trained at the stadium. On May 4 at midnight, a brawl between him and a few men including Kumar took place in Chhatrasal Stadium. Sagar died on May 5 because of the injuries he sustained in the brawl.

Wrestler Sagar died and two of his friends sustained injuries after they were allegedly assaulted by Kumar and others.

On Sunday, Sushil and his associate Ajay Sherawat were arrested from Mundka, Delhi. Sushil is in a six-day custody. “The trial will go on but he won’t get bail,” said a police source. Sushil has applied for anticipatory bail before his arrest. Rohini Court rejected the bail. His face wrapped with a towel, Sushil was being escorted by policemen. The irony though. The two times Olympics medalist is not new to being escorted by police, but never in this capacity – out of a police station, apparently in Saket.

The incident occurred on the intervening night of May 4 and May 5 over a dispute related to a property located in the Model Town area.
