Rudrankksh Patil and Anjum Moudgil to finally get their prize money

Rudrankksh Patil, the reigning world champion in rifle shooting, and Anjum Moudgil, a teammate from the women’s team, will finally receive the money they were due for winning the prestigious President’s Cup gold and silver medals, respectively. A change in the International Shooting Sport Federation’s (ISSF) organizational structure was to blame for the prize money’s unpredictability. Rudrankksh Patil, the shooter from Maharashtra, was set to receive the largest paycheck of his young career: 15,000 euros (roughly 13.25 lakhs rupees) for winning the President’s Cup in Cairo in November of last year. While, for placing second in the women’s rifle 3-positions competition, Anjum Moudgil was expected to receive about Rs. 6.25 lakh.

However, after being ousted as the leader of the international body by a vote, Vladimir Lisin, the former Russian head of the ISSF, failed to fulfill his financial commitment. The announcement that prize money will be given to all the athletes who won medals in the season-ending competition was made by the new ISSF chief, Luciano Rossi, on Wednesday. The President’s Cup, which this year offered total prize money of 792,000 euros, features the top 12 competitors in each Olympic shooting competition according to the world rankings for 2022. Each discipline offered prize money of 66,000 euros last year, with 15,000 euros going to the winner.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Rossi said, “Dear athlete, with great pleasure I inform you that the ISSF has been able to reach an understanding regarding the payment of the prize money for the President Cup 2022, which is supposed to be carried out as promised.” He went on to say that it would take a protracted legal battle in order to obtain the money for the shooters. Lisin was under pressure to resign after the invasion of Ukraine because of his close relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but one of Russia’s richest people had the backing of several small nations, preventing his departure. Ultimately, Rossi won the election over him last year.

Rudrankksh Patil is an Indian sport shooter. He has achieved success in the Shooting World Cup. He placed first in the 10m air rifle in December 2022. Rudrankksh has been simply outstanding for India since the year 2022, earning him his Olympic quota after winning gold at the 2022 ISSF World Shooting Championships. Since winning the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany, he has won gold at both the President’s Cup 2022 and the World Championships 2022, two of the most prestigious competitions held by the ISSF.

In addition, after winning the world title, he guaranteed India a spot in the Paris Olympics in 2024. The Maharashtra-born athlete has won every competition, both internationally and domestically, with the exception of the Asian Airgun Championships, where he came in last place. After a seven-year break from his signature event, he also won the gold medal at the National Games 2022 in Gujarat.

Anjum Moudgil

Anjum Moudgil is an Indian sport shooter who was born on January 5, 1994. As a representative of Punjab, she is from Chandigarh. Through the Rahul Dravid Athlete Mentorship Program, the GoSports Foundation provides support for her. Anjum Moudgil won the women’s 10m air rifle competition at the ISSF World Championship in Changwon and took home a silver medal. The Indian senior team’s medals were opened by the 24-year-old shooter, who finished the eight-woman final with a total of 248.4. The prestigious competition.

In the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) competition at the ISSF World Cup in Mexico, she took home a silver medal. Anjum won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) with a score of 455.7. She scored 151.9 in the kneeling position and 157.1 in the prone. She significantly outperformed the CWG Qualifying record during the qualification round.
