National Shooting Trials 2023: Manu Bhaker wins the 25-meter pistol event

At the National Shooting Selection Trials for rifle and pistol shooters on Thursday, Manu Bhaker took first place in the women’s 25-meter pistol competition. The Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy Range in Bhopal is where the event is taking place right now. At the ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Cup 2023, which was held at the same location last month. Manu Bhaker won the bronze medal in the women’s 25-meter pistol competition. She won the gold medal at the trials by defeating local favorite Chinki Yadav 31-29 in the medal match. Manu is the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup.

Other athletes

In a shoot-out victory over Neha, Rhythm Sangwan took home the bronze medal. Chinki Yadav qualified sixth with 577 points, ahead of Rhythm Sangwan in first place with 583 points and Manu Bhaker in second place with 580 points. Arjun Babuta, who won the men’s 10m air rifle event, and Ashi Chouksey, who took first place in the women’s 50m rifle event, were other winners on the day. Arjun Babuta defeated Akhil Sheoran 16–6 in the medal round of the men’s air rifle final, where he had won qualification with 634.5 points. After winning qualification with 589 points and taking first place in the women’s rifle 3 position event, Ashi Chouksey defeated Shriyanka Sadangi 16-10.

Dhanush Srikanth (men’s 10m air rifle) and Nikita Kundu (women’s 50m rifle, third position) took first place in the junior division. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) will use the current shooting trials to help choose the Indian team for significant competitions like the Asian Games 2023. Asian Games 2023 will take place in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, and the ISSF World Shooting Championships, which will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 27 to June 7. The young shooters are vying for spots on the squads for the Junior World Cup and Junior World Championships.

Manu Bhaker

Manu Bhaker, India’s newest rising star, quickly advanced through the ranks even as a teenager. She began playing tennis, skating, and boxing in school. He was raised in Jhajjar, Haryana, is a region renowned for its boxers and wrestlers. She competed in “thang ta,” a style of martial arts, and won medals at the national level. When the 2016 Rio Olympics came to an end, she impulsively decided to give shooting a try at the age of 14 and fell in love with it. Bhaker asked her father to buy her a sport shooting pistol within a week so she could hone her craft.

Ram Kishan Bhaker, her devoted father, bought her a gun; this action would eventually lead to Manu Bhaker becoming an Olympian. Manu Bhaker shocked Olympic champion and former No. 1 in the world during the 2017 national shooting competition Heena Sidhu. To defeat Sidhu’s record and win the 10m Air Pistol final, Manu shot a record score of 242 points. At the Asian Junior Championships in 2017, she later added a silver medal, and the following year. Manu Bhaker made a grand entrance on a major stage.
