The Hyundai Archery World Cup 2023’s season start is taking place in Antalya, where Mete Gazoz, the current Olympic archery champion, is now located. Gazoz, who took home the gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, had previously placed third in the World Cup’s Antalya Stage, but he is aiming to win the competition this time around. He claimed the Spring Arrows preseason warm-up, which was held on the same field as the World Cup stage, last month. The seventh-ranked athlete in the world, Gazoz, has had a successful start to the season, winning the gold and bronze at the Spring Arrows and Lilleshall, respectively. He most recently finished on the podium at the British Grand Prix.

The Turkish archer hopes to build on his success in the Archery World Cup 2023 Antalya and in the World Cup. Gazoz is feeling confident and at ease despite the pressure of participating in a home tournament. He said that he is pleased with the wind conditions and that he has a thorough understanding of the field. Additionally, he has experience competing under pressure in home World Cups and is accustomed to it.  “Of course, I feel a little bit of pressure all the time, but not too much. It’s not my first home World Cup. I’m fine with that,” said Mete. “I hope I will win the gold,” added Mete in an interview with World Archery.
