Milkha Singh hospitalised again but condition is stable, confirms hospital

Former sprinter Milkha Singh was admitted again in Chandigarh’s Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER). An official spokesperson of the hospital confirmed that his condition is now stable.

Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) said Milkha Singh is doing better than when he was brought to the hospital Thursday. He was readmitted because of dipping levels of oxygen.

Meanwhile, Milkha Singh’s wife’s condition has deteriorated and there is an increase in oxygen requirement. She is presently on HFNC and NIV intermittently

“On the basis of his medical parameters today, his condition has been observed better and more stable than yesterday,” PGIMER’s official spokesperson, Prof Ashok Kumar, said.

Milkha Singh was rushed to the Hospital of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) his oxygen levels were low. He has been suffering from Covid-19 since May 20.

Kumar said that Milkha is being closely monitored by a team of three doctors at PGIMER.

PM Narendra Modi expressed Singh will be back soon to inspire athletes, who will be participating in the Tokyo Olympics.

Earlier in the day, Milkha’s son Jeev too thanked the PM for calling his father.

“Thanks to Prime Minister for taking time… call dad to find out about his health” Jeev said in a tweet.

Milkha Singh is suspected to have contracted the Covid-19 infection from the house help who tested positive. His wife had earlier tested negative for the virus.
